Google has refreshed its multicolored “G” logo for the first time in nearly a decade — but you might not have noticed at first glance.

The subtle redesign brings slight changes in the proportions and alignment of the red, yellow, green, and blue segments that make up the logo. According to Google, the tweak was made to improve the balance and legibility of the logo, especially at smaller sizes or on different devices.

While it’s a small change visually, design experts say it reflects Google’s ongoing efforts to fine-tune its branding for clarity and consistency across platforms. The last major logo overhaul came in 2015 when Google switched to a sans-serif typeface.

The new “G” is already live across many Google products, including apps and browser tabs — proving that even the tiniest design shifts can say a lot about how a brand keeps evolving.

As digital branding continues to evolve, even the smallest design choices can leave a big impression! We’ll be watching to see what’s next.
